Back To Group Therapy

I’ve been doing pretty well lately. Last week I had a headache that lasted a few days, and then finally went away. I usually keep taking Advil periodically until the headache goes away completely. I’ve also been looking for freelance writing work, and finishing up a few articles that I started a few weeks ago. I have quite a few articles and stories that I’ve started but haven’t finished (or at least published). Ideally, I write something with the ultimate goal of publishing it, but so far I this hasn’t happened.

I joined a newly formed writer’s association last week, and almost entered one of my children’s stories in a Writer’s Digest contest until I found out it was over twice as long as they allowed for their word count. When I found this out, I was disappointed. I’m still working on my memoir of course. Often when I sit down to write and think about the past, it takes up quite a bit of my energy. I’ll write for an hour or two on my computer, and when I’m finished, I’ll feel like taking a nap! I seem to use up a lot of energy just remembering!

I still chant for the happiness of the voices. I also chant for John, and to be able to earn a steady income from my writing. John and I are still new to the responsibilities of homeownership, so we’re working on this together. Yesterday, we spent a beautiful day driving down Highway 1 south from Half Moon Bay all the way to Santa Cruz. We took Savannah with us. We ended up at Twin Lakes Beach by the Santa Cruz Harbor. It was beautiful! I’m looking forward to the next time we go to the beach.

I decided to go back to group therapy at Kaiser. I was going fairly regularly to a group therapy that meets once a week on Tuesdays. It was helpful, but sometimes depressing, and I didn’t participate very much. Individual therapy was much more helpful for me, so I’m going to continue with that as well. I’m sure I’ll find another great, caring therapist like I did before!
